Chasing Your Own Dreams
Saturday, September 8th, 2007As I was reading the Wednesday edition of USA today, August 8, 2007 about Barry Bonds becoming the home run king with his 756th career shot, I envisioned the thoughts that were going on in his mind, body and spirit. Was he a “Proud Man Standing” is the question that one might ask? Of course, there is only one answer to this…the answer must be “YES.” This was the moment that not only Barry Bonds was waiting for but the entire World was waiting to see happen. Breathlessly…those who watch sports have been anxiously waiting for that moment in time when one human being surpasses another with might, power and passion.
The response to this great feat from Hank Aaron, received via videotape was: “I send congratulations to Barry Bonds on becoming Baseball’s Career home run leader. I have been privileged to hold this record for 33 years. My hope today, as it was on the evening in 1974, is that the achievement of this record will inspire others to chase their own dreams.
“Chase their own dreams” is a statement, an affirmation, an inspirational thought, idea, concept and dream that has alluded so many of us. How about you? Have you allowed your dreams to allude you? Do you care? Does it mean anything to you? The questions can go on and on. We humans are good at that. Wishing, dreaming, hoping, wishing, expecting, praying, wishing for something…someone… to save us…help us…give to us.
Believe me when I say these words, because I understand this is the hope and dreams of most of us and the questions that I receive on a regular basis. Am I going to get married? Am I going to get the right job? Am I going to become a millionaire? Am I going to get well? Am I going to be happy?
All great leaders, I am sure had asked themselves those questions over and over again in their lives. The only difference between a great athlete or leader and you and me is that he/she has acted on his/her hopes, his/her dreams, his/her wishes, his/her desires. To become an extraordinary person, you cannot sit back and hope and dream and wish and desire. You must become an active participant in your life. You must step up to the challenge! You must agree to do your work! You must face the obstacles! You must search for the opportunities. Never once did an extraordinary person loose sight of his or her goal.
The focus is always on the goal. The vision - the mission.
Where do you place your focus daily? How badly do you want to achieve your goals? I, myself have faced many challenges in my life and believe me when I say that the challenges follow you daily. The difference between being “Extraordinary” and simply “Ordinary” on a daily basis is your mind set.
Do you have a vision - a mission that you sincerely and seriously want to follow and achieve?
Well… what is standing in your way?
Make today the first day of your new way of thinking. Be proud of who you are and where you are going. Make a plan… know your purpose…listen to your messages…follow your heart and fulfill your dreams. Nothing is impossible to those who believe. Be a believer in you. Get to know your inner most thoughts. Believe that what ever you want is possible. Set your intention. Accept the challenges that face you daily and know that all challenges bring forth opportunities. Please do not be afraid of the unknown…”for the unknown of today is the glory of the known for tomorrow.” Be adventurous! Make life fun…not a burden. When you make the mind set to seek adventure and reject the feelings of burdensome and overload…magic happens. It is all in the mind set. Where is your mind today?
Are you willing to chase your dreams? I don’t know about you, my dear friends…but I for one am in the driver seat and I am going full throttle ahead. I am willing to do my work. I am physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually getting in shape to jump the hurdles, trudge through the muddy waters, and climb the mighty mountains. I have a vision…I have a goal…I have set my intention. I am a winner. Follow my story as so many have followed the stories of all the great athletes and leaders of the world because I am ready to make history. I hope you, too, are preparing to do the same.

Saturday, September 8th, 2007Remember a time when you were younger and all you thought about was summer vacation? There would be days on end where you dreamed of hitting the community swimming pool or lake; and when summertime finally came, you would run to the water’s edge and dive right into it. As a child or teen, you didn’t worry about what might be in the water, whether the water was cold or warm, or if you had enough sun lotion on…you simply jumped right in without a care or worry. Those were the good old days…no?
Well, in life, we sometimes forget our childlike ways and take everything way too seriously. We forget to “jump into life.” We forget how important it is to appreciate what is right in front of us. As we go to work each day, send our own kids off to school and deal with the many life issues surrounding us, we suddenly get caught up in the humdrum of the same old routine. No longer do we value special moments together, nor do we take the time to “make time.” Instead, we focus entirely on projects at hand and we lose track of what truly makes us happy.
Wealth, depending on whom you ask, is defined in many ways. For some, wealth simply means having a six-digit or seven-digit income. But for some, wealth is having the company of good friends, family and especially love. In this case, wealth is truly defined as “happiness.”
When we return to our childlike state and embrace the freedom, which we once so enjoyed, we can literally “jump into life” and begin realizing the wealth that we desire. Whether you seek wealth in home and family, in nature, in an occupation, or in other material possessions that you’d like to own – you must retrieve your inner child and jump back into life to start fulfilling your dreams.
Don’t hold back. Let your inhibitions run free and when you think you can’t move forward…relax, close your eyes and reach within yourself to bring back your inner child. Sometimes, we can re-train ourselves to use the nostalgia from the past to embrace the present.

Saturday, September 8th, 2007Henry Ford once said, “If you think you can, you will…if you think you can’t, you won’t.” There is deep value in these words of wisdom. How many times have you asked, “What if?” We always seem to ask that question after we have already given up before we even start something new.
There have been many an individual who gave up on living, and subsequently died. Not because they wanted to die, but because they stopped living. One can literally “will” himself toward sometimes incredible changes – both negative and positive.
There once was a gentleman who constantly worried. One day, he incessantly worried about the ice in a parking lot. “Be careful,” he said, “you’ll fall and break your ribs.” Individuals should exercise caution, but he took it to extremes. Over and over, he repeated how one would not only fall but that they would break their ribs as well. Guess what? He, himself, took a tumble and broke two of his ribs on the ice. Inadvertently, he had “willed” this on himself.
Another case is an individual who wanted to make quick cash. He didn’t care how he got it, just that he wanted it. He even went so far as to saying, “I wish someone would pull out and hit me,” speaking in regards to a car accident, where he could make fast cash. One day, he was involved in a car accident that nearly took his life. You see, when we arbitrarily “wish” for something, we must be careful for what we are wishing. You never know what you’re going to get. So, choose your wills and wishes carefully.
A great example of the human “will” or spirit is in the case of Ludwig van Beethoven. Did you know that Beethoven began losing his hearing in his early 20s? Now, most individuals might believe that this incidence would be tragic to a great musical composer. Instead, Beethoven’s will was so strong that not only did he continue to produce well-known masterpieces, but he created them when he was entirely deaf.
Then there are other cases, still, where human beings have overcome unbelievable tragedy through the determination of the human spirit and will. Like Henry Ford said, “If you believe you can, you will…If you believe you can’t, you won’t.” It’s all relative.
To create the change you want to become, you must first believe it. You must have faith in your Divine intuition and always choose your wishes accordingly. If you want to own a home, you must believe that you are capable of owning it. When you do, you begin to work harder to achieve this goal, and acquiring your home is not so far out of reach. If you want to land a good-paying job, you must believe that you are capable of attaining it. Once you do, your step is a bit livelier, your communication skills are fine-tuned, and your presence is positively unbeatable. Remember, however, change doesn’t happen overnight. It’s something at which you must work. When you finally realize that creating the change you want to become is necessary, your Divine intuition embraces your will and the human spirit within you begins to follow your destiny’s roadmap to success, wellness and happiness.

Saturday, September 8th, 2007Often times, we fall into the drama of life. Rather than valuing what is right in front of us, we seek what others have…and in doing so, we put blocks in the way of achieving the destiny that has already been mapped out for us.
You see, we really can become our worst own enemy. At times, we over-correct ourselves in order to attain success. For example, picture cruising down a two-lane road. As you’re driving along, the sun is shining; the skies are blue…and then out of nowhere, comes a str
