The Difference Between Intuition and False Thinking…

October 29th, 2007

In a recent article in USA Today, reporter Karen S. Peterson writes about social psychologists and researchers, who claim that their research is geared toward “fortifying intuition, sharpening thinking and deepening wisdom.” Stuart Vyse, a psychologist, however, stated that “…it has been shown over and over again that gut reactions are not accurate. It is a mistake to base a decision on a gut feeling.” I beg to differ. Intuition, “gut feeling” and “hunches” are often the saving grace to many a soul.

In an article by the Crime Library, “What They Did Last Summer,” novelist Lois Duncan (author of “I Know What You Did Last Summer”) incurred a tragic, life-altering event when her daughter, 17-year old Kaitlyn was murdered. Using intuition and psychic detective work, the case was subsequently solved.

The difficulty that intuition presents, as Myers points out, is that there are many false prophets who claim to know all and see all; and like any bad apple in the bunch, spoils the whole lot. Many times, it has been intuition and “gut feeling” that has saved people from many a tragedy.

What makes a complete stranger jump before a racing subway train to save another human being? Recent heroism, like that of Navy veteran Wesley Autrey of NY proved that making a split-second decision to save a convulsing man on the tracks was critical. Some might call that stupidity - others might call it luck; I call that intuition. Mr. Autrey, in response to why he had jumped onto the tracks was, “I did what I felt was right.” Had his intuition not taken over at that precise second, the man on the tracks would not be alive today.

What makes a person do incredible human feats? Is it simply “adrenaline;” or is adrenaline part of the “gut feeling” or “intuition” that gives us the insight to make strategic plans, and sometimes, lead us down the “right path” in our lives? Another case of intuition…or as some may call it luck…involves a family who decided to take the bus instead of taking the train on a cross-country trip in Germany. The train derailed. Coincidence?

Then there’s chains of ”coincidences,” like the many who decided not to work on the morning of 9/11. Was that mere coincidence or intuition? Another case of “intuition,” involves a young woman who chose to call into work one early Saturday morning. She worked in a sportswear distribution warehouse. On the morning that she was scheduled to work, all the 20+ foot aisles of ton-weight clothing racks toppled like dominoes in the area she would have been working. Gut feeling? Coincidence?

What makes a passerby jump into a lake to save a drowning stranger? Is that simply being a “hero?” No, the commonality of all of these cases is that no one wakes up one morning and says, “Oh, I think I’ll be a hero today,” or “I think I’ll save someone’s (or my own) life today.” Intuition is likening to that of “EQ” (Emotional Intelligence). Without it, many people would not even survive. These are instinctive emotions and “gut feelings” that are inherent in the human being. The difference between intuition and false thinking is that your ego mind gets in the way and you want something and want an experience that might not be best for you. False thinking is not hearing the truth of your reality and not wanting to live in truth in that moment. Can a hunch prove to not come true absolutely? The key is to look deeper into the feeling of what was really going on and get the lesson behind it. In general, individuals who have clouded their minds with greed and other habitual tendencies may not be able to think clearly; therefore intuition becomes just as clouded.

I believe that intuition, as our emotional intelligence, is the driving factor in what makes people succeed in life…draws people to each other in positive relationships…transforms our perception and makes us the best humane and compassionate people we can be; both personally and professionally. The major issue that surrounds intuition and developing intuition is not so much that we don’t instinctively have intuition; it’s the fact that we don’t listen to it, or abide by it — and that’s when we end up getting ourselves in a pickle. Intuition, like any other learning module, must be fine-tuned to deliver the best results; whether you use it effectively, well, that’s entirely up to you.

Origins of The Gift

October 22nd, 2007

The question I get asked on a regular basis is – how long have you had your gift.  You see since I can remember – I have been able to look at a person and know things about them without even having a conversation with them.  I can see family members that died, I can see your possibilities of your future, very accurately I might add and I can see what has happened in your life and know the details of your past all without you saying anything.

Imagine being a child in your mother’s arms and looking at your Uncle who just walked in the door for a birthday party and know he is a very angry man with a lot of challenges in this life time.   Meanwhile, I had this memory when I was a child a about 2 years old.   As a child I had no idea that my gifts would turn out to be a profession and my greatest asset.  It was not easy though to get to this place.

As a child I would always make my dad look in the closet, and under the bed  to make sure no one was there waiting for me…. Believe it or not- I still do this routine every night when I go to bed.  I do travel a lot and you better believe I check out my hotel room before lights out.  Anyway, the reason why I started this routine as a child was because the minute I was by myself going to sleep all of these people would appear over me…. Literally I could look up and there were about 5 or 6 men and woman- hovering over me.  Later I have come to find out they were from my mom’s side of the family visiting me when I was alone at night.

I would always close my eyes and open my eyes- as if this would make them go away… there were many a nights I went into my parents room to say the people are back.  I never liked sleeping alone when I was a kid because I always had visitors.

Boost Your Soul Intuition With This Nutritional Charge

October 11th, 2007

As soul travelers, we sometimes live in a state of suspended emotion…rather, lack thereof.  Where has your intuitive expert led you? We often get so caught up in the rigors of everyday life that we sometimes forget to focus on our Divine intuition.  If you are still, and you listen to your intuitive expert, you can begin manifesting good health and wealth prosperity.  Easier said than done, eh?  Not really.

An old Native American parable presents a metaphorical analogy using two wolves.  In the story, a grandfather talks of the ongoing, internal struggles of the self.  He explains that each of the wolves represents very opposing emotions; one representing our negative emotions - the other, our positive emotions.  He explains how the battle rages inside; when one of his grandchildren asks him, “Which wolf wins?”  The grandfather replies, “The one you feed.”  This simple Native American philosophy explains how individuals, using their intuitive expert can achieve health and wealth prosperity by merely feeding the right emotion. What emotion have you been feeding?

The more we practice meditating on increasing good health and increasing wealth, the more effected we become by our positive emotions.  As an intuitive expert, you begin to manifest your hearts desires.  Breaking free from our suspended emotions takes commitment and effort.  Are you dedicated enough to make the move toward achieving your goals?

Become an intuitive expert, and manifest wealth in more ways than one.  You clearly start seeing and realizing your hopes and aspirations.  You must first believe your natural instincts and allow your intuitive expert to guide your ambition, and your life passage toward achieving extraordinary results.  Your Divine intuition is what gives you the nutritional charge to feed your positive emotions; which in turn, helps you in manifesting good health and attaining the prosperity that you seek.

Feed the positive wolf in your soul with positive affirmations, and intentional focus.  Your intuitive expert is right where you are…just reach within, and listen to its voice of freedom.  Break the chains of your suspended emotions and become healthy, wealthy and happy.

Wake Up With Whoopi Radio Show Caller Response

Here is just a small excerpt:

“Suddenly, I heard newest host of The View invite listeners to call in and ask any questions they had for her guest psychic, Joan Marie Whelan. Of course, you know I had to call in. I mean, what else did I have to do for the next four hours other than listen to the radio and talk on my cell phone?

I don’t know if I was more surprised that I got through right away—-or by the answers the psychic gave me to my questions.”

Through Analysis, Gut Reaction Gains Credibility

September 25th, 2007

Joan Marie takes a look at:
Through Analysis, Gut Reaction Gains Credibility
Claudia Dreifus
New York Times

I was born with the wonderful gift of being able to use my intuition and I thought that everyone had the same gifts and abilities. I was very surprised as I was getting older to discover that most people were not able to receive the same kinds of messages that I have taken for granted because their intuitive talents were dormant.

What fascinated me even further was that Scientists needed to prove what I do in order for them to validate these phenomena’s, yet call it what you will, I feel most blessed to be gifted with this special talent. Being intuitive is an innate special faculty that I regularly use to help me shape the course of my life. I believe that we are all born with this gift or talent but have allowed it to be buried due to the conditioning and programming that we receive from birth and early childhood. It gives you the freedom of expanding your mind to the knowledge and wisdom of being guided to what is best for you. It is accepting the unknown in your life and becoming comfortable with the whisper that speaks through you to give you advice, suggestions and wisdom.

I believe the best way to be open to your intuition is simply being comfortable with the feelings that you are continually experiencing and identifying with those feelings so that you can eventually grow to understand and appreciate their voice. We all have many emotions stored inside of us that come from past experiences. In order to be a brilliant intuitive for yourself it is important to be in touch with your feelings as you live in truth with the emotions that surface.

The article, Through Analysis, Gut Reaction Gains Credibility” by Claudia Dreifus is wonderful as it brings to light this phenomenon as noted in Dr. Gigerenzer new book, “Gut Feelings: The Intelligence of the Unconscious.” It shares with many how being intuitive can benefit you and your decisions in life. I absolutely agree!

I consult on a regular basis with many fortune 500 companies whom base many of their decisions on our conversations and findings as I share what I see for them and their company’s future. Many doctors also consult with me about their patients and healing paths that would best serve the patient especially when the traditional methods reveal nothing. I have been asked questions in reference to surgery and medication and my intuitive gifts have helped many get answers and gain insight into the root of their problem.

I see my abilities as a gift to assist thousands, transform their lives. My job is to teach people to be responsible for their choices as they use the tools that I share. Then as they become better attuned to pay attention to their inner voice or messages, they will become more apt to assist themselves in creating improved health, more wealth and improved relationships.
