I got back into the city late from the party, and went to bed wishing I had come home to a tree.I woke up this morning still trying to reason with myself to say let’s not get a tree this year and just wait for LA.  Well, as I walked to the grocery store early this morning it was nice to see the thick snow clouds and the dusting on the ground of snow!  My first snow fall back in NYC and boy was it chilly; but it felt good.  I love the holidays covered in snow, don’t you?  I decided to take the long way to the store to just see what trees were out for sale.  Well, as I walked across the main road I headed right to the fresh cut trees; picked one up, and said, “How much?”  My Soul was determined to buy a tree; and do it now.  Have you ever been like this?  It is as if something takes over you and you just do it.  The tree man was very nice. I had grabbed a full, short tree and he started opening some trees and kept suggesting this long tall tree for my home.  I was leaning towards the fuller one when I realized he keeps coming back to the tall, lean tree for a reason.  I took a deep breath and realized he was right in his suggestion.    It would give me more room in my petite one-bedroom here in NYC; and it was a perfect tree from top to bottom.  As you can imagine - by this point I bought the tree, a tree stand and spent my morning buying Christmas lights, a tree skirt and some ornaments.  You see, all of my Christmas things are in California - minus two stockings I brought back, the fluffy little snowman Mom bought me and my all-time favorite Santa kneeling down over baby Jesus with his hat off.  I have had this great piece in a box for seven years waiting to use.  Do you have things in a box waiting to use?  Well, I have decided no more waiting.  I suggest you do the same.  Do not wait anymore for what you want!At this point as I am standing in the streets of NYC; it begins to snow real hard - the kind of snowfall where you cannot see right in front of you.  Of course I took this as a sign; buying my tree on a winter day (as the snow is falling) - to me, this is a beautiful piece of the start of a great season for me.  It was like a scene right out of the movies and I was in it, doing what made me feel good.  Don’t you want to do the same - doing what feels good to you?  I know I want that for you.Well as you know by now I was ecstatic. I bought my tree.  I began walking home quickly and by this point my feet were soaking wet from the snow; the bottom of my sweat pants were wet, my nose was running; but I had my tree.  Imagine having this much passion, energy and momentum on a daily basis in your life what you could accomplish.  I am sure it is much more than just buying a Christmas tree. Mind you my mom thinks I am working hard by this time in the day on all the things my staff is waiting for me to do.  Me? I am playing some Bing Crosby music and putting up my tree! So it was a perfect day for me!  There were a couple of glitches, of course.  As I finally began working on my projects for my staff I noticed my tree was tilting a bit.  I said to myself a couple of times, “I wonder if this tree is going to fall?” It sure looked like it was but I assumed it would not.  I was on the phone with Mom; going over things that needed to get out and she asked me if I had been working today, and I said, “Yes.”  Well, I was working; just not really on what she thought I was working on. 

I am on the phone getting things done with Mom, when my tree - with all its trimmings - falls forward. I jump up to grab the tree as my ornaments go flying all over the living room.  All I could say was I have to call you back.  I hang up the phone and spend the next 20 minutes getting my tree back up right and in the stand.  This took a while; at one point I leaned it up against my wall and was ready to call it a day when I knew this did not look right.  I was getting a little annoyed wondering can I return everything and just get to work.
