However, there are rules and procedures to which Joan Marie must adhere because she wants to make sure that the questions she does answer will benefit all readers. Therefore, only those that are general in nature or can benefit the reader will be answered in the newsletter, "Straight Talk from Joan Marie." We believe that there are only five (5) categories of issues that most of us question on a regular basis. They are:

Hey Joan Marie,
I listen to you every Monday on Wake up with Whoopi, and I have been for a while now. I love to hear the insight you give to others and how you can be open and honest with those who phone in or email. I was wondering if you may be able to give me some insight into a recent issue that I have had come into my life. I have been living with a man for the last two years, his name is Tony, and we have been through a lot in those two years together.
Tony and I both worked for the same Construction Company, and as you know, the Market has gone sour for homebuilding. He was laid off from that Job back in June and it hit him pretty hard. He became withdrawn from the world and everyone around him, including me. I have since been laid off from the same company as him and I have both moved to North Carolina. Well I have gone on and started new employment, and am in the process of finding a place to live.
About a week ago, Tony and I ended things, as he is not sure what he wants with his life right now. He told me that he loved me, but was not in Love with me... I was his very best friend and he did not want to lose my friendship because I have done so much for him and been through so much with him. I love this man very much, and want nothing more than to be back in his life. I have not been around him, nor spoken to him since we broke things off. I am continuing on my forward journey of getting my life back in order, but I would love to know if there is even the slightest chance that he will come around and want me back as more than his friend.
He's been through so much in his life with previous relationships and he is damaged by them. He doesn't know how to let things go, and he lives an everyday existence as if he's going to be hurt; as in heartbroken, every day. He truly believes that all women are out to hurt him, and that is the last thing that I would ever want to do to him. I just want him to be happy with life, and I would love to know if he could have that happiness with me as part of that life. Thank you so much for your time and I do hope you can help me out.

When a situation comes up such as this one, it is usually a sign from the Universe that it is time for you to deal with life lessons. Whenever something is taken from us - such as a job, the intention of the Universe is not to allow you to go without. The Universe's wishes are for you to finally get rid of what is no longer serving you and open up your heart for greater blessings that do belong to you.
Your boyfriend was feeling defeated and has a lot of issues coming up for him that he needs to deal with. Your Soul is ready to grow in leaps and bounds and create a whole new story. What is important for you is to continue to grow and be open for the possibilities of "Newness" that is about to come into your life.
You can no longer go back in time and until your ex-boyfriend deals with his stuff it is not possible for the two of you to reconnect. There is a reason this happened.
When one person has grown and the other stays stagnant...a breakup is inevitable. One is accepting the obstacles and willing to grow from them and the other is slowly dying because his or her energy has weakened. Consciously that person may not know that is happening but subconsciously, his heart and soul understand that something is happening. He may be threatened by the other person's vibration, and therefore, finds it easier to remove himself from the picture...because he hasn't found out how to deal with the pain and obstacles that he is facing.
It would be valuable for you to continue to look forward and reach out for your success and blessings…because they are right in front of you. You have the right mindset and if you continue to think and act in a positive way, you will most certainly reach your goals. I understand that what I am about to say might sound insensitive but it truly is not. Please become the observer of your old boyfriend’s behavior and experience; not an active participant in his drama. That story does not belong to you. To remove yourself from a negative environment takes courage and strength. Feel proud of you.

I have been really struggling with the idea of speaking to you. I am not to sure how to go about asking you a question. Sometimes you don’t know if you really want the answer or not but I am pretty spent these days. It has been an incredible year. One thing after the other has happened to me and mine. We have had loss and frustration all year. How do you deal with frustration and fear of the unknown? We have been trying to get our house sold since March. This has been an emotional roller coaster ride. I wonder if you can see when it will get sold. I know that this is a material thing but it is important to me. I feel that it is going to sell but then we have railroad track behind us and they seem to keep getting in the way. I thank God for all of the blessings in my life everyday as I am a truly blessed person with a loving husband, kids and family but I seem to be one of those people who can’t seem to relax. If you get a moment would you please send me any peace that you could for my heart? Thank you for listening.

The important thing to focus on at this moment is the frustration and the fear of the unknown. This is where trust comes in. The biggest key for you and all of us who are faced with those same situations is to get clear as to why you are in this situation and what your messages are. Why do you and your husband need to be in this place? The house will sell, engulf it in pink light and bless your home with love for all that it has served you. Engulf it in loving energy and be open for another family to come in and make it their home, just as you have.
Remember, what might be a negative location for one family might be a haven for another. My Mom sold real estate for 25 years and she had the privilege of marketing a property that faced the railroad tracks. From an ad in the newspaper that pulled in people who loved to be near trains and hear the sweet sound of the whistle, the perfect family came, saw and bought!
I want to know if you and your husband have a plan for your next step; that is, the next stage of your lives? When you have a clear and distinct direction for your life, that is, where you are going and what is your strategy or plan to get there - the opportunities will unfold for you and the way will be shown. Please do not go into fear or worry! Those are negative emotions that will sabotage you and the outcome. May I suggest that after you and your husband have put on paper your strategy and plan, leave the outcome to the Universe. Once you have a clear vision, the Universe will match it. Preparation equals a clear plan of action which leads to success.
Also a lesson for us all is to fall in love with the unknown and trust that the One who has created you will always take care of you and in fact, has not deserted you. There is a far greater plan for you. Spend some time in silence; quiet time is the time to invite in your Higher Source to give you the wisdom and understand of the present situation and the insight needed to help you bring closure to the old. As you are resting in the silence of your soul, say and believe that your Higher Source is guiding your path and state that you trust and know that you are not deserted but in the right time, you will see and understand the direction that you need to follow in order to reach your desired outcome.

I've heard you on KTU with Whoopi Goldberg in the mornings and thought I’d ask your advice. My husband and I have been drifting apart since the birth of our son almost 20 months ago, and it seems to be getting worse. I'm wondering if we'll get back on track and feel close again. It's made me feel very insecure to the point that I sometimes don't want to wake up in the morning. I really love him; I just don't know what to do.

Hi Dina;
The greatest thing you can do right now is speak to your husband immediately and communicate how you feel. When a child enters the picture, things in the home dramatically change. There are new responsibilities, challenges and fears; not to mention sleepless nights and frayed emotions. Communication on both sides is vital. Let him know what is going on with you and what you would like to experience in the relationship. Your husband feels a void. He still needs to feel needed by you and he wants his special time with you. For whatever reason in your home, I sense the feeling and energy of overwhelm and/or a sense of hopelessness. Unfortunately, 20 months have elapsed and feelings have not been honored or communicated.
If possible, I suggest that you and your husband plan a date night out. Remember some of the fun things that you used to do? Well, now is the time to start doing them all over again. Plan time alone with your husband and time together as a family, and make sure he feels as though he is a valuable and needed part of that family. Include him in your day and take the time to pay attention to his day.
My feeling is your husband is feeling rejected and not sure where his place is anymore. You both have new emotions that have crept up into the picture and you both need to turn to each other and recreate a new environment that includes laughter and fun as well. New Parenting groups in your community might be a perfect outlet for all of you because they deal with couples just like you who have similar problems and needs.
You are a team and you both willingly invited another new person to play on your team. So go out there and create a new story, a new reality.
